27.10.2009
Though it should be titled 28.10.2009 yet i did it the other way because i was about half an hour late for this post. Exams beconing again but the most amazing thing is that my writers block is finally coming to an end and the story i had been writing is finally progressing again at snail’s pace but at least its moving slowly and gradually though its not getting a great deal of views yet i believe in my work and think one day i can really publish it some how.
Finally http://b-insight.ueuo.com
has also started running and for sure will be one thing to look out for in the future
A day i will always remember
October 23,2009 will always be fresh in my mind because of many reasons the day started with an earthquake that jolted me in at 1:50 A.M in the morning while i was watching the ugly truth and then in the morning there was a blast hardly 1.5 K.M away from where i live and felt all the after shocks.
Then in the evening heard that 3 missiles had been fired at Kohat and to add salt to wounds the news channels showed fire breaking down in lahore and a family killed in Islamabad when a dumper fell upon their car ….
Arr nothing good happened in short
Dearth of research supervisors
Research has been the priority of many institutions at the moment in different fields at the graduate level but it does not end here. What i mean that prioritizing stuff and then paying attention to that is something that they need to look into why is not done in the sense it should be.
I had been working on my research for about two months now and the problem is that i have already been tossed around in between three supervisors for a simple plain reason that they have no idea about the field i’m conducting my research at now that’s a nice one first they made me pursue three different topics for each supervisor and then all of the three kicked me because they did not know about that field now that is what one can laugh at …
Trott-alicious!
After falling to brilliant piece of fielding effort from M. Katich in the first innings J. Trott made full use of the opportunity to make a name for himself in the histroy books with a century on debut and hand over Australia the dauting task of scoring more than 500 runs over the course of last two days of the fifth and final Ashes test.
Batting with confidence and style Trott made the Aussies sweat by making a 119 before falling pray to Clark. Many regarded this test to be remembered for being the last test of Freddie Flintoff but for me it should be remembered for Trott’s batting in both innings giving it more of a Trott-alicious flavor
A new season and a perfect start …
I know it’s a bit late to write this post about Arsenal’s new season heroics but still it’s never too late. The Gunners opened their account with a mesmerizing 6 – 1 victory at Everton and carried the form to become the first team in over 20 years to beat Celtic at their home ground in European football.
With a great new signing in the form of Vermaleen in the defence and most of the top players returning back from injuries the season is full of expectations and i have a firm believe they can do it this time around and get some silverware.
Coke Studio 2: Episode 3 & “Billie Jean’s new version Bashira bano”
Another remarkable and well tuned episode caught the eyes, hearts and ears of many on various channels and youtube when the third episode of the current season of Coke Studio was aired yesterday and it totally rocked.
Ali Zafar was outstanding again with another folk song Ya Daddi Ishq Atish and every word, line and stranza gelled so very well that it has become a master piece another gem by coke studio, my favourites Noorie were simply out of this world they are proving themselves again and again that they are ahead of the pack of musician that are currently in Pakistan wayahead.
JoSh were lively and their act was superb and Zeb & Haniya along with Javed Bashir were soothing but one thing i’m still confused about is that what was Atif thinking when he turned Billie Jean to Bashira Bano on Coke Studio Episode 3 …
Getting back to normal …
I’m writing this post in wake of the situation around the country which is improving security wise a bit from the past couple of weeks, as the security is improving Wapda has started its own game these day with the loadshutting so things are improving a coming back to normal.
While i was writing this line even the though that Pakistani Cricket team has started to lose the matches which they are destined to win stuck me by chance so things are really coming back to normal …
Fun and Work
It has been a week since i have been in lahore for my internship at Askari Islamic Bank and it truely has been one of the most amazing, interesting and knowledgable week of this year soo far …
The environment i got here has been one of the best that one can wish for, i have been associated with many good Pakistani firms in the past two years and this is one of the best environment one can wish for.
I hope that the coming five weeks would have the same high flying spirits and the high quality work ethics that i have observed in the last seven days.
My interesting delimma
Most of my seniors used to complaint about the supervisors that were assigned to them when they were doing their final BBA research report and i among many used to laugh at them because i knew that they were god damn lazy people but now being in their shoes i know it was not only them but the major factor of their laziness were their supervisors as well
About a week ago i got a precious chance to show the research proposal i had been working on to my supervisor whom i thought would be of great help (oh how i wish that was true!) and he told me that he would go through it and give me a reply in a couple of hours but its been 168 hours i mean a whole week that i have been waiting for that life saving reply
.
More over today was the last date of the submission of the proposals and you know what he never showed up and when we contacted Mr. President (in this case my supervisor
) about it he calmy replied that i will come tomorrow
Coke Studio: Getting better and better
Today was the second episode of the much talked about coke studio season 2 and it was up to the expectations from Josh’s Jaaney Do to Atif’s Kinara to Shafqat Ammant’s Ankhon Kai Sagar to Ali Zafar’s Dastan-e- Ishq but for me Toomba was the out right winner of the episode it was haunting to hear how everything about that song gelled into a piece.
Coming to Ankhon kai sagar everything was perfect, vocals, music, feel of the song and not to forget the sarangi and tabla mix. On the other hand Ali Zafar caught everyone out of surprise again with his performance and strong vocals that showed every emotion of the poetry that he was singing.Atif’s Kinara was good but it didnot had any catch what so ever for me (sorry for that) and Josh was simply awesome with their Jaaney Doo which had a raw yet fresh feel to it.
But Toomba holds a very special position in the episode that was aired today which was totally dominated by the two cultural kalaam’s that were presented in it and shows the power of our folk music and its richness, i still am trying to forget the sound of the voilin and banjo on Toomba and those haunting vocals and fluet on Dastan-e-Ishq …
What else can i say Coke Studio does it again in a style of its own …
